Menu and navigation

On websites where you manage the menu yourself, you choose which pages appear in it.

  • Main navigation: the pages that are immediately visible at the top of the website.
  • Secondary navigation: pages that aren’t immediately visible. They’re in the hidden menu, which opens through the menu icon.

On other websites, the menu automatically follows the status and order of your pages: published pages (green) appear in the menu, in the order they’re in in the CMS.

  • Keep it short. Five to seven items in the main navigation is enough. The rest can go in the secondary navigation or become subpages.
  • Use familiar words. “Services” and “Contact” are clearer than creative names.
  • Put the most important first. Visitors read from left to right.
